What is a Cambodia Dental Camp?

According to The World Health Organisation, health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. Oral health is an indispensable part to the general health.

In Cambodia, especially in remote villages, oral health education is inadequate and people in general couldn’t afford the cost for dental treatments. Prevention is always better than cure. This can be done by changing daily habit. Proper oral health education allows villagers to equip with the knowledge on how to maintain and enhance oral health on their own. In long run, to save money from dental treatments while obtaining better oral health condition.

Mission and vision statement

Generally, consciousness and awareness on oral health is relatively inadquate with people from less developed countries. Allowing the underprvilliaged to receive basic dental care is one of Hong Kong Young Dentist Federation (HKYDF) ’s core mission.

Before we officially found HKYDF, we went to remote villages in Mainland China, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, to provide basic dental care services and oral health education.

By the end of 2014, we decided to register an official non-profit organisation, HKYDF, in order to gather more same-mind young dentists to serve more people.

In December 2014, we partnered with Suvadra Foundation Nepal and conducted a dental camp in Bhaktapur, Nepal, with 17 volunteers. In 3 days, we served over 900 school kids.

This year, we collaborate with Cambodian Children's Advocacy Foundation (CCAF) to conduct a Dental Camp in Trapeang Andoung Village, Cambodia for 400 villagers, including 200 school kids, on 10-15 January 2016.

We are now seeking HK$30,000 to support our overseas dental services project. The fund will be used to cover the cost on dental tools and materials. Your support is needed!

Info of organisers

HKYDF - HONG KONG YOUNG DENTIST FEDERATION

The Hong Kong Young Dentist Federation (HKYDF) is a non-profit organization founded by a group of enthusiastic young dentists from Hong Kong. We put our priorities in serving the needy in rural areas, such as Nepal, Philippines, Thai-Myanmar boarder, Penghu Taiwan, Guangxi, in a relatively informal way, and of course, we also serve the underprivileged groups in Hong Kong.

“Serve with passion”. We aimed to use our knowledge to serve people in need. Equipped with more solid voluntary experiences, we decided to establish HKYDF in 2014 and run the pro-bono service in a more sustainable manner for the future.
